Wow, there is so much to tell I'm not even sure where to start. I've been quiet for the last couple of days and I can begin with saying that i've had an amazing time. Like I explained, me and my boyfriend took a train through Germany, from Hamburg to Stuttgart were we changed to a regional train which took us to the small city of Tübingen. We got there in the afternoon and the mother of my boyfriend met us up at the train station and we took the bus up the her house together. The road was quite something else going up and down a bit like a roller coaster and during the ride I also got a pre-taste of the amazing city. When we arrived at her house we decided to barbaque in her garden, so we took out pork, lamb and a few sausages called "Red Ones" which are typical for this region of Germany, but the funny part is that these sausages were not red at all! I can't remember the last time I ate this much, the food was delicious and the wine we drank as well. After talking for hours and hours it was time for bed.
The next morning we got up around 10.00 I believe and this day would be full of sightseeing. We took a walk along the valley around her neighbourhood before we made our way down to the city centre. We sat down in a café of some sort and had a drink each which was really refreshing as the day was really warm. Then we continued our tour round the city and I got some amazing photographs. I will add a few of them later on in the post. We also had lunch in the city centre and I had a pancake with apples, sugar and cinnamon on it. As we ate we also had a gorgeous view over the plaza before us and the "rathaus" (city hall) right beside us. Tübingen also have a really nice castle, a real castle with watch towers and defense walls. My boyfriend pointed out these "murder holes" in the tunnel of the front gates. If enemies broke through the first gate and could enter this tunnel and start to break through the second gate they would lower the first gate again and trap the enemies in the tunnel and then pour down something extremely hot like boiling oil into these "murder holes" which leads into the tunnel where the enemies are trapped. This would lead to death. Later in the evening we decided to see the football game between Germany and Portugal at a public viewing place and by the end of the game I found myself in this German victory chaos with waving flags, firecrackers and honking cars. The Germans sure are passionated about their their football! Instead of staying out celebrating we made our way back to the house where we drank wine and looked at baby pictures of my boyfriend until 1 am when we hit the beds.
The next day it was time to go back home to Hamburg again.
Now, here's a couple of pictures taken in the beautiful town of Tübingen, all of them taken by me.
Yesterday was spent at Hagenbecks Zoo here in Hamburg, but i'll leave that for a later post. I'll try to post more later today or tomorrow. Now i'll meet up my boyfriend in the city centre in a few hours to look in shops and enjoy Hamburg. First I'll sort out the cage for our gerbil girls we will finally go get tomorrow afternoon! :)
I do apologize for potential mistakes made in the text. I'm without contact lenses as i've dropped one of them, so i'm more or less half blind at the moment haha
Love, Kristina
